“Recognize that the very molecules that make up your body, the atoms that construct the molecules, are traceable to the crucibles that were once the centers of high mass stars that exploded their chemically rich guts into the galaxy, enriching pristine gas clouds with the chemistry of life. So that we are all connected to each other biologically, to the earth chemically and to the rest of the universe atomically. That’s kinda cool! That makes me smile and I actually feel quite large at the end of that. It’s not that we are better than the universe, we are part of the universe. We are in the universe and the universe is in us.”

The Thief of Rage. Truth rather than Labels
"The question has often been asked; Is Buddhism a religion or a philosophy? It does not matter what you call it. Buddhism remains what it is whatever label you may put on it. The label is immaterial. Even the label 'Buddhism' which we give to the teachings of the Buddha is of little importance. The name one gives is inessential....In the same way, Truth needs no label: it is neither Buddhist, Christian, Hindu nor Moslem. It is not the monopoly of anybody. Sectarian labels are a hindrance to the independent understanding of Truth, and they produce harmful prejudices in men's minds."

Squid and me and our Saturday Jaunts
Last week Squid and I took off to Thorpe Bay by bus. Neither of us had any idea how the bus would take us but take us it did. Along and around the many roads leading to quite where we didn't know. Finally we ended up outside Asda in Shoeburyness. It wasn't our intended destination but hey ho. Not knowing exactly where we would eat or frankly where to go we entered Asda who had the primitive making of a cafe. Less cafe and more caff. We ordered our food. Me a veggie all day breakfast and Squid a 'brunch' thingy. Amongst the food stuffs we ordered were eggs and when I say they were rubbery I am not taking the mickey out of Chinese folks for the eggs were over cooked and tasted like rubber.
Once we were eating our food so a gentleman with special needs accosted us asking what day it was to which Charlotte replied that it was indeed Saturday as it was. The said gent then asked what day was it yesterday to which Squid politely replied that it has been Friday. Thanking us both he then vanished to presumably order his plate of nosh. Returning minutes later he then engaged in another conversation with us informing us how he hag got to where we were now seated. What bur he bordered and by which that bus had travelled. how long was the duration of his journey and his final destination which was, hard to believe I know, precisely where we now were. AMAZING I KNOW.
